Job Posting: Pirate Assistant Location Manager

Position Type: Temporary, Seasonal (April 1, 2025 - November 30, 2025)
Wage: Beginning at $18+ End of Season Tip Share ($1.50 - $4 per hour)
Additional Benefits: Stipend for costume purchase.
Hours of Work:
Training and Rehearsals will take place during the months of March and April and will equal approximately 40-80 depending on whether Captaincy is a part of your role.
Approx 20 hours per week May/June
Minimum 35 hours per week July/August
Approx 20 hours hours per week September/October
Approx 2-5 hours per week November
Regular Shifts:
Daytime shifts: 5-8 hours between 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM
Evening shifts: 5-8 hours between 4:00 PM and midnight
Occasional Shifts:
Tour / Private Sail Program Shifts : Minimum 3 hours between 8:00AM and midnight
Occasional holiday shifts (including Mondays)
Days of Work:
May, June, September and October Daytime Shifts occur on Saturdays and Sundays
July and August, Daytime Shifts occur between Tuesdays-Sundays
May and June, Evening Shifts occur Friday-Sundays
July and August, Evening Shifts occur between Thursdays-Sundays
September and October, Evening shifts occur between Wednesday-Sunday
Occasional shifts can occur any day of the week
Availability:
At the time of auditions, Contractors must provide their availability for the season:
July and August: A minimum of 30–40 hours per week during standard daytime and evening shifts.
May, June, September, and October: A minimum of 10–20 hours per weekend during standard daytime and evening shifts.
The availability provided during auditions will set the Contractor's expected workdays for the season. Hiring decisions will be based on this availability and the altering of this availability may result in termination or renegotiation of contract.

Position Overview
Pirate Life Theatre seeks a dynamic and versatile Experience and Operations Manager to oversee daily operations, perform in productions, manage front-of-house responsibilities, and lead specialized programming initiatives. This role combines leadership, operational management, and performance in a fun and engaging environment. For those interested, there is an opportunity to obtain their captaincy and operate our vessels, further expanding their responsibilities and skill set.
Key Responsibilities
Performance & Operations:
Learn all aspects of Pirate Life Theatre’s performances and step in as needed.
Act as Manager on Duty (MOD), ensuring smooth operations and guest satisfaction.
Lead opening and closing procedures, including set-up and inventory checks.
Monitor and address safety protocols, including weather assessments and vessel issues.
Provide real-time feedback to performers and report to management.
Front-of-House Management:
Greet and engage with guests, answer inquiries, and resolve ticketing issues.
Manage daily cast schedules and coordinate breaks.
Handle merchandise and bar sales (Smart Serve required).
Maintain site cleanliness and supervise sanitization efforts.
Prepare and submit MOD reports, incident reports, and schedules.
Operational Focus Areas:
Evening Programming: Oversee evening performances and events, acting as the main MOD for all evening shifts.
Offsite Programming: Coordinate logistics and execution of offsite events, responsible for overall and Trailer Maintenance.
Maintenance & Prop Management: Ensure upkeep and repair of props and site facilities.
Group Programming: Oversee all onsite group programming for camps, schools and otherwise.
Communication & Coordination:
Act as the main point of contact for Entertainers, Drivers, Captains, and guests,
Coordinate with other managers to ensure seamless operations.
Handle scheduling adjustments, cancellations, and troubleshooting as needed.
Report to the Location Manager for all troubleshooting and otherwise.
Opportunity for Captaincy
All Experience and Operations Managers have the opportunity to obtain their captaincy, allowing them to operate Pirate Life Theatre vessels. This includes completing the following certifications (training provided if not already certified):
Small Domestic Vessel Basic Safety (SDV-BS)
Small Vessel Operator Proficiency (SVOP)
Restricted Operator’s Certificate (ROC (M))
Marine Basic First Aid + CPR/AED Level C
Qualifications
Strong leadership and organizational skills.
Comfortable performing in theatrical productions.
Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
Experience managing staff, schedules, and operations in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency with booking and front-of-house software (training provided).
Ability to oversee and implement safety and maintenance protocols.
Must have Smart Serve certification.
Valid driver’s license (needed for offsite programming).
